Emergency lighting testing

Emergency lighting must work when the normal supply fails. Testing confirms it does — and plans for the time batteries need to recharge afterwards.

For property managers · offices and commercial premises · shared residential buildings

What this service involves

Emergency luminaires and exit signs are tested in two ways: short functional checks that simulate a supply failure, and longer duration tests that confirm the batteries can support the lights for their rated period.

A duration test leaves fittings with reduced backup until batteries recharge, so we plan timing with you — often at quieter times or in sections — and confirm scope, number of fittings and access before work starts.

Worth knowing before you book

  • Scope and timing are agreed first — duration testing is not something to start unannounced.
  • Testing confirms performance at the time of the visit; ongoing checks between visits remain part of your arrangements.
  • Replacement parts are quoted after testing, as faults cannot be known in advance.
